"380th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk history" clock was installed at the Revolution Square in Krasnoyarsk on June 10. The ceremony was attended by local officials: Vladimir Chashchin, speaker of Krasnoyarsk City Council, Professor Gennady Bykonya, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Lyudmila Gavrilova, Doctor of Arts, Cossacks, and honored Krasnoyasrk citizens.
Chashchin greeted Krasnoyarsk citizens and said that the clock opening was an important event in the city life, "We are opening this clock on the eve of the forthcoming 380th anniversary. The entire history of our city is closely connected with its symbols, Krasnoyarsk citizens have been treating the history of the city carefully, local authorities supporting them in that. We are thankful to everyone who have contributed to social and economic history of Krasnoyarsk. This clock will reflect historical events of the city and become a worthy sight." On behalf of Krasnoyarsk Mayor Petr Pimashkov and City Council deputies Vladimir Chashchin congratulated Krasnoyarsk citizens with the anniversary of the city.
Gennady Bykonya, in his turn, noted that people of different occupations had been involved in the creation of the clock, among them were university teachers, museum workers and historians. All of them contributed to the popularization of the city history, "Messages which the clock will play are connected with historical dates, they will be changing as time goes on. The clock will encourage interest to the past of our city." Lyudmila Gavrilina said, "The clock will play interesting, unusual and mysterious audio pages of Krasnoyarsk chronicle."
After the solemn opening of the clock, the anthem of Krasnoyarsk was sung by a chorus, and all those who attended the event, could listen to an audio extract from the city history.
One will be able to listen to the anthem and historical texts of 5-8 minutes every hour. It is worth mentioning that the clock was bought at the expense of sponsors and cost $100,000.
