Volume of nickel, copper and palladium sales increased at Norilsk Nickel in 2006

Volume of nickel sales increased by 5 percent at Norilsk Nickel subsidiaries, or 13,000 tonnes, and reached 257,000 tonnes during the year of 2006, is said in the consolidated financial statements for the year presented by Norilsk Nickel.

Due to the significant increase in the average annual selling prices of nickel by 65 percent – from $14,560 per tonne in 2005 to $24,081 per tonne in 2006 – the revenue of the company from nickel sales increased by 70 percent and reached $6,228 million in 2006, as compared to $3,674 million in 2005.

Profit from copper sales increased by 73 percent – from $1,644 million in 2005 to $2,841 million in 2006.

Volume of palladium sales increased by 38 percent – from $914 million in 2005 to $1,265 million in 2006.
