The first pollution-free plant opened in Siberia in the village of Berezovka, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Dec. 21. The new production was launched at Yenisei timber processing plant. Deputy-Governor Andrei Gnezdilov, Legislative Assembly Deputy Vsevolod Sevastyanov, and Berezovsky District head Victor Kryukov attended the opening.
The delegation had an excursion around two shops of the new plant. Andrei Gnezdilov and Yenisei TPP Director Yuri Gaydutsky cut the red ribbon to symbolize the opening.
Then the deputy-governor pushed the button to switch on the machines solemnly.
Andrei Gnezdilov said, the plant to produce pellets, a type of wood fuel made from compacted sawdust produced as a byproduct of sawmilling and other wood transformation activities, is the first in Siberia. "A third of the total amount of pellets made in Russia," Gnezdilov said.
According to Gnezdilov, the plant has the latest equipment capable to produce 42 mt of pellets a year. "The establishment of the plant is a part of the development program of forestry in our region that we approved of in 2004," Gnezdilov said, "Within the framework of the this program we will launch a plywood plant, two pulp and paper plants and a MDF plant in the nearest future."
