Moscow, Dec. 4 (REGNUM) - The temporary ban imposed by Russia on rice supplies concerns all the countries, which import this cereal to Russia, Russian Agricultural Inspectorate (Rosselkhoznadzor) Chief Alexei Alexeyenko announced Dec. 4.
"The restrictions cover Pakistan, China, Vietnam, Egypt and other countries," Alexeyenko said. He also stated that about 2,000 mt of dangerous rice cereal, which had been proved to be moldy, taste rancid and have content of pesticides higher than the set standards, were recalled at Russian border stations, REGNUM informed.
Alexeyenko said some consignments of dangerous rice would be sent back to the manufacturers, some would be eliminated. "We plan to eliminate most of products, which are not in compliance with Russian sanitary standards in the future. Regional departments of Rosselkhoznadzor will be in charge of this," he specified.
Moreover, Alexeyenko revealed that the number of border stations provided with special equipment to prevent import of dangerous products would be announced until December, 20. "The real demand of such stations is not less than 10," he stated.
