Central Bank of the Russian Federation issued 5000 ruble ($185) banknotes of 1997 sample on July, 31. These banknotes are to be accepted by enterprises and organizations, depending on the form of legal entity's incorporation, and by physical persons in any kinds of payments, as well as by banks for deposits, current, settlement and other accounts without any restriction, the Chief Directorate for the Bank of Russia of Krasnoyarsk Territory reported.
The necessity for issuing of the banknote is connected with necessity of cash currency and increase of the average wages in the country, CD of the Bank of Russia noted.
The new banknote continues "the town series" and is devoted to Khabarovsk. The main color of the banknote is red and brown. N. N. Muravyov-Amursky's Monument erected in Khabarovsk is depicted at the background of the Amur embankment on the right banknote side. There is a sight of an automobile bridge across the Amur River on the back side.
When designing the new banknote a serious barrier for forgers was made. First of all, the set of measures to check validity of the new banknote without special devices was intensified. Thus, there is a field with concealed rainbow stripes on the right side to the left of the picture of N. N. Muravyov-Amursky's Monument. Looking at the banknote from the right angle, the field looks monochromatic. But if the banknote is turned, multicolored stripes appear on the field. Looking at the banknote to the light, one can see the number of 5000 formed by small-diameter holes. When bending the banknote the color of Khabarovsk coat of arms changes from crimson into golden green. Looking at the banknote from the oblique angle, letter PP seen light or dark, depending on the side of the banknote, can be seen in the lower part of the right banknote side. The image of the farther bank of the Amur River in the center of the right banknote side is formed of tiny graphic elements that can be seen only with a magnifying glass: abbreviation of CBRF, silhouettes of tigers, bears, fishes and trees.
Latest achievements of the Chief Directorate for Coins, Medals and Orders Manufacture, including those without foreign analogues, are used in protection of the new banknote. According to experts' assessment, the new 5 thousand ruble banknote has surpassed Swiss francs, the world recognized leaders in protection, to some extent.
