Herbert Tortochakov, an invalid sportsman from Khakasia, finished his longest race on October, 1. 2 800 miles – from Abakan to Moscow – have been overcome by him for 90 days. Herbert chose Yury Dolgorukiy Monument as the place for his finish, where he was met by representatives of Ministry for Emergencies, Russian Mass Media, Nationality House, and his countrymen – students of Moscow universities from Khakasia.
Herbert was awarded with a diploma of Moscow Government, as well as different gifts. And Monya Bergman, a constant representative of Khakass Republic of Russian President, has given a reception in honor of Herbert Tortochakov.
It is worth reminding that Herbert Tortochakov was bedridden for a long time: when he was a teenager, he was wounded on his head seriously. Doctors did not even hope he would be able to walk again, however, his will-power and love for sport raised Herbert.
The route of this race was through Kemerovo Territory and Tatarstan, that is why the distance has been rather long this time (actually the distance from Abakan to Moscow is not 2 800 miles, but 2620 miles).
Herbert reached Kazan, where he took part in the celebration of the millennium of the Turkic capital and then moved to Moscow, on September, 28. The main idea of his race is the uniting of Russian peoples. That is why he has brought some Khakass ground to Moscow.
It is worth reminding too that Totorchakov is a repeated participant of different 'ideological' races and actions. However, he has chosen such a long and complicated route for the first time. Herbert is the winner of Russian prize 'Public recognition'.
