2.5 thousand words included into new audio Evenk and Ket dictionary

2.5 thousand words have been included into a new audio Evenk and Ket dictionary, recorded in Evenkia Autonomous District by specialists of the Scientific-Research Computing Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University, and Linguistics Institute of Russian Science Academy, the press service of Evenkia reports.

The dictionary was recorded in the framework of the project 'Creation of multimedia databases of Evenk and Ket lanuages, research of phonetics of indigenous small peoples of Evenk region'. The recording of Evenk language with use of modern digital audio and video recording equipment was held for the first time. Sociolinguistic research of the citizens of Surind Village was held as a preliminary stage in order to reveal the peculiarities of the language situation in the village.

It is planned to create an electronic version of the audio Evenk dictionary with the help of the audio dictionary, where various dialects will be presented. Scientists also plan to create a computer audio and video archive of samples of Evenk and Ket speech.

It is worth reminding that an expedition of specialists of the Scientific-Research Computing Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and Linguistics Institute of Russian Science Academy recorded an audio dictionary of Ket dialects in Evenk Village of Sulomay in 2004. Now one can look at the demo versions of 'Northern Shoel Qups Audio Dictionary' and 'Multimedia Database of Ket Language' in the Internet. And a video film 'Language as Recollection (Kets of Sulomay)' shot by scientists is kept in Baykit District administration of Evenkia Autonomous District.
