Peter Pimashkov, Krasnoyarsk mayor, has met with Krasnoyarsk artists in Vasily Surikov’s Museum-Estate on June, 2. Valerian Sergin, Valery Kudrinsky, Valery Pilipchuk were present at the meeting.
‘It has become a tradition to hold such meetings in the estate of our famous fellow countryman. We have made sure once again today, how many talented, original artists we have, whose style differs from a lot of other schools. In addition, talented, progressive young generation is growing, and it is said that there is even a new Surikov among them,’ Pimashkov has pointed out.
A vernissage in the open sky, where paintings of 18 Krasnoyarsk artists, not calculating pupils of Surikov Art School, was organized in the yard of the estate in 2005 for the first time. As Sergey Anufrienko, the chairman of Krasnoyarsk Artists Union, has pointed out, ‘most of Krasnoyarsk artists prefer landscapes’.
It is worth mentioning that Krasnoyarsk artists had presented more than a hundred of works to the city on the eve of celebrating of 375th anniversary.
Two projects on the improvement of memorable Surikov’s places – ‘Surikov Klyuch’ in the area of Vetluzhanka (where geodesic and topographic works had been undertaken by 9-form pupils of Lyceum №1) and near Torgashino) have been presented to the city mayor’s attention.
Pimashkov has confirmed to an IA REGNUM-KNews correspondent that he had approved designing of the project, ‘Surikov Klyuch’ is one of the new memorable places opened in Krasnoyarsk, and we will de everything possible for it to be well-designed and worthy of the memory of the great artist, the same concerns Torgashino. I think the memorable places will be beautified and accessible for Krasnoyarsk citizens by next birthday of the city.’
‘Our city is, first of all, people, determining its image and character, and Surikov is in the first rows of these people. He is our proud and an example for imitation, causing a wish to work and create in this city,’ he has underlined.
Pimashkov and Sergin have laid flowers to Surikov Monument in the artist’s museum-estate. It is worth reminding that laying of flowers to graves to memorable places and memorable boards of Krasnoyarsk citizens, who contributed greatly to the development of the city, is included into the program of the festival events, devoted to the City Day.
