Wolves’ shoot is planned to start in Evenkia. According to the data presented by Directorate for Game Husbandry of Evenkia Autonomous Area, the number of wolves has increased at the territory of the area. At present the number of predators is 3 500, while the norm must not exceed 1 500. Specialists of the directorate have calculated damage caused by wolves in 2004: $36 000 – to the area agriculture, $2 700 – to hunting.
As the press service of EAA administration announced, the specialists of Directorate for Game Husbandry of EAA say that the increased number of wolves at the territory of the area is caused by complicated passability of taiga territories and complicated conditions for wolves’ shoot, as a consequence.
Wolves’ destruction with the help of aviation is to start in Evenkia at the end of February. A special crew of a MI-2 helicopter equipped with everything necessary for shooting predators has been invited from the territorial center for that. Flying around the territory by a helicopter specially equipped will allow giving maximally exact assessment to the situation arisen, as well as to exterminate a large number of wolves.
